FOC Splicer (Telecomms)
About this role
The Fiber Optic Cable Splicer is to be responsible for splicing of Fiber Optic Cables and the testing on site activities with the quality of work performed. In this role you will be the first in-line in splicing and have extensive knowledge of the fiber optic industry and work involved. He will ensure that all work is installed/maintained in accord with the Company’s and Customer’s safety and quality requirements.
Qualification
- High School Graduate or Vocational Course Graduate
- Knowledge in splicing and repairs of new and existing plant also fiber optic theory which includes fiber loss, connector types and the different types of fiber, buried and aerial cables using all types of construction method.
- 2-3years experience in splicing and prepping fiber optic cables, pedestals and enclosures.
- Must have experience in mounting Local Convergence Point (LCP), Network Access Point (NAP), building entrance terminals and terminating within them.
- Knowledge of fiber optic splicing techniques, testing equipment, and safety procedures is an advantage.
- Knowledge in using fusion splicing machine, OTDR, power meter, light source and PON testing.
